EPISODE 192 - RAYMAN* by Garage30 Radio
Description
From Richmond, Virginia, this DJ has been at it for about a year and a half. He told me his inspiration mostly came from seeing friends DJ, with some of them having only picked it up as a hobby, while others have been doing it their whole life. Music has always been something he's been deeply attached to in his life, and DJing seemed like a natural extension of that.
His alias comes from one of his favorite games growing up, Rayman 2 on the PlayStation 2. He said he stole the name, along with adding his favorite animal at the time to his username when he first started getting on online social games like Club Penguin, but he's been shortening it ever since.
He told me he loves playing basically everything, but he usually gravitates more towards color bass, future riddim, hyperpop, and ambient.
He's performed at many different places in VRChat, with some of his favorites being Offline, Star Party, Rebirth, Slyfest, Session, Anima, Residence, and Shelter, but he's loved everywhere he's played at.
Today's mix serves as a way to scratch the itch of some songs currently in his rotation, some of his favorite routines that he likes to mix, and as an emotional release. He called it a bittersweet victory lap for everything that's been happening in his personal life recently. An expression of getting everything you've wanted for so long, but it turns out it's not all its cracked up to be. You'll be hearing tracks like Set in Stone by Slayr. If you like experimental/underground rap, hyperpop, future riddim, or colorbass, you should be a fan of this mix. And, he said, if you've never heard of these genres, then he hopes this mix will open the doors to some new music you might be into.
Outside of DJing, he enjoys anything and everything creative, like Photography, Videography, and Graphic Design. He also has some more niche interests like butterfly knife flipping and beatboxing. He also loves watching anime, with some of his favorites being FLCL and Mob Psycho 100.
He's also a huge fan of Indie music, with one of his favorite artists being Eden and his song Elsewhere. I can vouch for Eden, lowkey - his new album Dark was on repeat for me for SO long.
Finally, he wanted to give a shoutout to his homies (they know who they are) and that he's always grateful to play anywhere, and thank you to anybody who listens.
Please welcome to this week's latency mix - Rayman
